OVERVIEW
iSisters Technology Mentoring Inc. is a Canadian charitable organization that was founded in 2001 with the idea of connecting women in need with technology through mentoring.
Since then, we have created five unique learning programs and built six learning centres.
In June of 2010, we celebrated our 1000th graduate!
iSisters current programs at Immigrant Women services Ottawa, Tungasuvvingat Inuit, Cornerstone and St. Joe’s Woman’s Centre continue to offer cutting edge technology programs for women who otherwise would be unable to access or afford such services.
iSisters students are learning necessary 21st Century skills and, gaining confidence towards their own economic independence.
We reach women through strategic community-based partnerships. All of our programs are designed and delivered collaboratively with the community partner who serves the target group.
iSisters has also worked with pregnant teens and young mothers at St. Mary’s Home and Youville Centre as well as with Big Sisters and Little Sisters through Big Brother Big Sisters Ottawa.
Learners in our programs typically have little or no experience using technology. Most of our learners have limited education and are often intimidated at being in an academic classroom setting. We work with the partner to recruit, maintain and graduate learners from our programs. Our participation completion rate is over 95%. Learn more about our learners.
