Exploring New Horizons with iAccess Tech: Empowering Through Technology

At iSisters, we believe in the transformative power of technology to unlock opportunities, improve accessibility, and foster a more inclusive digital landscape. This commitment is at the heart of our latest program, iAccess Tech—a dynamic series of Lunch and Learn sessions designed to empower participants with practical, tech-savvy tools and strategies.

Launched in December 2024, iAccess Tech is an exciting initiative offering targeted learning experiences every few weeks. Each session focuses on technology-driven solutions that enhance productivity, accessibility, and digital integration for diverse needs. Here’s a closer look at the planned sessions and their potential impact.

Accessibility: December Session

We kicked off with a deep dive into accessibility features across popular platforms, including Windows 10 and 11, Android, and iOS devices. Participants learned how to harness top accessibility tools to improve ease of use and inclusivity. Whether it’s text-to-speech, visual adjustments, or other adaptive features, this session ensures everyone can make technology work for them.

In early 2025 the Lunch and Learn sessions below will be scheduled for all iSisters learners to attend.  If you’re a woman, girl or gender diverse individual facing barriers, follow our social media or get in touch with Program Manager Erin for information about how to register.

Organization and Time Management

As the new year begins, we focus on productivity. Two sessions explore the integration of tools for effective organization and time management, both at home and work:

  1. Google Workspace Integration
From Gmail to Google Calendar and Tasks, we’ll uncover how Google’s ecosystem simplifies scheduling and task management. Attendees will also explore the power of Google Keep for note-taking, highlighting its seamless operation across devices.
  2. Microsoft 365 Ecosystem
This session delves into the organizational potential of Microsoft 365, showcasing tools like Outlook Mail, Calendar, and Tasks. We’ll also discuss integrating apps like Google Keep into this ecosystem, enhancing multi-platform workflows.

Exploring Accessibility Features in Microsoft 365

As the year progresses, we circle back to accessibility with a special focus on Microsoft 365. Participants will discover how to download free versions of the software and leverage accessibility features across programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Enhancing Hearing and Language Connectivity

In this next session, we broaden the accessibility conversation by exploring hearing aids and language tools. From Bluetooth-connected devices to translation services, participants will gain insights into tools that enhance communication and inclusivity.

Harnessing AI for Everyday Use

The final session in the current lineup addresses the power and potential of artificial intelligence. From automation to smart assistance, participants will learn how AI can make life easier—while discussing the ethical concerns that come with its growing influence.

Flexibility and Participant-Driven Learning

The beauty of iAccess Tech lies in its flexibility. While the outlined topics provide a strong foundation, the program encourages participants to suggest additional sessions based on their needs. This ensures that our offerings remain relevant and community-focused.
